FACTS TO CONSIDER:

-Waterborne diseases kill more people than ALL forms of violence-including war.

-One in six people on this planet have no access to safe water.

-Over 4,500 children die from water-borne diseases EVERY DAY.

The death of a child is an agonizing experience.  But when a child’s death is TOTALLY preventable, the loss is even more tragic.  Today in Ethiopia, thousands of children are dying of water-borne diseases, simply because they have no access to clean water,  Adults are also affected, but children are most vulnerable.

Throughout Ethiopia, the only source of water for an entire community is a contaminated pond or stream.  For others, their only source of water is from muddy puddles.  Only one in three people have access to safe water.  Worse yet, is the sobering fact that one Ethiopian child in ten dies before his or her fifth birthday-half of them from diarrhea.

In many parts of the country, natural springs are abundant but severely contaminated.  The cost of providing safe, practical access to water is beyond the reach of many impoverished communities.  Consider that four out of five people in Ethiopia live on less than $2.00(USD) per day.  That amount must pay for everything-food, housing, medicine and education.

Spring protection systems are simple and inexpensive.  All that is needed to provide a safe water source for an entire community is $2,500(USD).  THAF subtracts nothing for our administrative costs.  This means the 100% of your donation will go to provide safe water for and entire community.
