Tropical Health Alliance Foundation(THAF) is helping to prevent one of Ethiopia’s most devastating problems-the tragic loss of life among mothers and children in the absence of prenatal care, adequate birthing facilities and trained healthcare workers. THAF works with front line organizations to bring relief to women and children. We help these organizations provide maternity services, primary medical care and health education. THAF sponsors the training of urgently needed healthcare workers and supplements the efforts of organizations to build healthcare facilities.
Throughout Ethiopia, the only source of water for entire communities is a contaminated pond or stream. For others, their only source of water is from muddy puddles. The cost of providing safe, practical access to water is beyond their reach. In Ethiopia, four out of every five people live on less that $2.00(USD) per day. Tropical Health Alliance Foundation works with our Alliance Partners to dig wells, protect springs and provide water collection systems.
Polio, cerebral palsy and crippling musculoskeletal disorders continue to plague large parts of the Majority World. In Ethiopia, we work with the Daughters of Charity to help support over 250 Crippled Children. By providing physical therapy, orthotic braces and wheelchairs, these children are given a chance to live life to their fullest potential

Ethiopia has one of the highest percentages of blind people per capita of any country in the world. Eighty percent of this blindness is either preventable or treatable. Simply stated.....it does not have to happen. As an addition to the tragedy of blindness, many children fall into a life of servitude to the blind person making the impact twice as severe. Ethiopians do not use seeing-eye dogs like many do in other parts of the world. Instead, you see small children slowly, quietly and faithfully leading a blind person through the streets. These children are kept from getting an education and even playing with their friends. THAF provides funding for front-line organizations addressing this devastating problem.
